Accenture has agreed to acquire the Connectivity division of Ziff Davis in a $1.2 billion all-cash transaction, bringing widely used internet measurement platforms such as Speedtest and Downdetector under the consulting giant’s umbrella.
The deal includes several well-known brands built around network performance monitoring and analytics, including Ookla, Ekahau, and RootMetrics. Together, these services provide tools used by consumers and companies to analyze network speed and evaluate overall quality of wireless coverage.
Once completed, the acquisition will place one of the internet’s most widely recognized network-measurement platforms within Accenture’s growing portfolio of technology and data services.
“Modern networks have evolved from simple infrastructure into business-critical platforms,” said Accenture CEO Julie Sweet. “Without the ability to measure performance, organizations cannot optimize experience, revenue or security.”
Ziff Davis to Focus on Media
Ziff Davis said the transaction will allow the company to sharpen its focus on its core digital media and vertical internet businesses, including properties such as gaming and entertainment site IGN, tech-culture publication Mashable, and health platform Everyday Health.
Ziff Davis’s connectivity portfolio has grown steadily over the past decade. The company purchased Ookla, the company behind the Speedtest service used worldwide to measure internet performance, in 2014. It also purchased RootMetrics, which measures mobile network quality, and Ekahau, a developer of Wi-Fi network design software.
According to the company, the Connectivity division produced $231 million in revenue in 2025, representing roughly 16 percent of Ziff Davis’s total revenue. The unit has become a choice property in an era when solid connectivity is crucial for cloud services and remote work, as well as the expansion of 5G networks.
“This is a transformative deal for Ziff Davis, representing a significant realization of value for our shareholders and a concrete illustration of the quality of the businesses in our portfolio,” said Ziff Davis CEO Vivek Shah.
Accenture Expands Analytics Services
Accenture plans to incorporate those data assets into its technology consulting and analytics services. The firm said the acquisition will strengthen its ability to help telecom companies, cloud providers and large enterprises improve network performance.
By integrating the Ookla portfolio, Accenture aims to provide deeper insight into how networks function in real-world conditions. The company said the data gathered through network testing and monitoring will support a range of analytics applications, including fraud detection, smart home monitoring and optimization of digital services.
Accenture has pursued a steady stream of acquisitions as it builds out capabilities in AI, data analytics and digital transformation. The company has announced deals for AI firm Faculty and consulting group Verum Partners, reflecting a strategy of expanding both tech expertise and industry-specific advisory services. The company has previously spun off or sold several non-core operations as it reshapes its structure.
Ziff Davis will continue running the Connectivity division until the deal is finalized, which both companies expect to occur in the coming months.
