Wi-Fi 7 is set for fast adoption, with industry research firm Dell’Oro Group saying enterprise buying of Wi-Fi 7 gear has climbed sharply since early 2025. Dell’Oro characterizes current Wi-Fi 7 pricing as unusually low, providing an adoption boost that could compress refresh cycles for businesses relying on Wi-Fi 6 and 6E.

Yet Dell’Oro warns that access to certain WLAN products has become less predictable, noting that component availability is a factor. The AI boom is devouring the supply of semiconductors and related parts, and wireless vendors are competing for many of the same resources.

“Lead times on some WLAN products are volatile right now,” said Siân Morgan, Research Director at Dell’Oro Group. “If vendors can win the game of component-shortage whack-a-mole then we expect healthy market growth. Otherwise, we may see prices increase and order backlogs grow, perhaps even a rerun of the post-pandemic market upheaval.”

Extremely High Throughput

Supporting the market buzz is a Wi-Fi standard that has finally reached maturity. Hardware makers began previewing draft-based products as early as 2022, with glimpses of retail gear appearing in 2023. The Wi-Fi Alliance’s certification program for Wi-Fi 7 arrived in January 2024, giving enterprise buyers a way to validate interoperability even before the IEEE process was completed.

Wi-Fi 7 is designed for extremely high throughput across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, and it introduces multi-link operation, which lets devices use more than one band in parallel to improve performance and reliability.

Peak throughput can reach roughly 23 Gbit/s in a single band, though real-world outcomes will usually be lower depending on user devices and network design. For network teams supporting dense device environments, like conference centers and campuses, Wi-Fi 7 helps lower latency while keeping capacity stable under heavy load.

Rapid Adoption Ahead

Market forecasters suggest a rapid ramp-up. On the high end, a January 2026 report from Wissen Research estimates the Wi-Fi 7 market could grow from a base of $1.8 billion in 2024 to $25.7 billion by 2030—a truly stunning growth rate. Whatever the exact growth number, sectors driving adoption will include bandwidth-hungry applications such as AR/VR, cloud gaming, industrial IoT, and multi-gig video collaboration.

One interesting note is where analysts expect demand to concentrate. Wissen Research argues that outdoor deployments will be a standout growth segment through the latter half of the decade, driven by public venues that need to serve large crowds with consistent performance. That’s a shift from earlier Wi-Fi eras, when enterprise usually meant indoor office space.

The bottom line here is that Wi-Fi 7 has the standards foundation and the vendor momentum, along with a price level that suggests robust adoption. The unknown factor is supply. If AI-driven component tightness intensifies, a market tailwind could turn into a major bottleneck.
