Texas Instruments has agreed to acquire Silicon Labs in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $7.5 billion, a deal that would significantly improve the company’s position in embedded wireless connectivity and become its largest acquisition in more than a decade.
Under the agreement, Texas Instruments will pay $231 per share for Silicon Labs, a hefty premium that reflects the growing importance of wireless connectivity as more devices come online across enterprise and consumer markets. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals.
For Texas Instruments, the acquisition broadens its embedded processing portfolio beyond its traditional strengths in analog and power management chips. Its components are embedded across a wide customer base that includes industrial firms and consumer electronics companies.
Silicon Labs has spent the past several years refining its focus on connectivity. The company offers a lineup of mixed-signal and wireless connectivity products used in smart homes, automation and connected infrastructure.

Forecasts Operational Benefits

Lowered Production Costs
Texas Instruments plans to move Silicon Labs’ production away from external foundries and into its own manufacturing network, which includes large-scale 300-millimeter wafer fabrication facilities in the United States. The company says this shift will improve supply reliability while lowering long-term production costs.
From a strategic standpoint, the acquisition improves Texas Instruments’ reach into markets where connectivity is becoming a default rather than an added feature.
