Scale Computing has agreed to acquire Adaptiv Networks, a Canadian provider of cloud-native software-defined wide area networking and secure access service edge technology, in a move designed to broaden its managed network portfolio and boost its edge computing strategy.
The deal will integrate Adaptiv’s SD-WAN and SASE capabilities into Scale’s SC//AcuVigil managed network services, adding built-in connectivity and centralized orchestration across distributed sites. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Bill Morrow, CEO of Scale Computing, said the acquisition reflects growing demand from organizations that operate across many locations and depend on consistent application uptime. Retail chains, restaurants and other multi-site enterprises increasingly require resilient connections linking stores and remote workers to cloud-based systems.
The deal’s overall strategy appears to be this: As companies push computing power closer to the edge while relying on cloud services, the convergence of networking and infrastructure is becoming central to IT strategy. With this acquisition, Scale Computing is set to offer integrated connectivity and edge platforms to customers seeking to simplify operations across many locations.
Tighter Integration of Networking and Edge Computing
By incorporating Adaptiv’s technology, Scale plans to offer tighter integration between networking and edge computing resources. The combined portfolio will allow customers to deploy SD-WAN either as a standalone service or bundled within Scale’s managed networking stack. Adaptiv’s Connect and Elfiq products will be rebranded under the SC//Connect name.
Bernard Breton, CEO of Adaptiv Networks, said the two companies share a focus on simplifying complex network environments. Adaptiv has positioned its platform as a way for organizations with limited IT staff to manage connectivity and enforce security policies without extensive hardware deployments.
Scale and Adaptiv together will serve more than 9,000 customers globally, including brands in retail and hospitality that operate thousands of distributed endpoints. The companies said the acquisition will strengthen Scale’s presence in Adaptiv’s home country of Canada.
Rapid Growth for Scale Computing
The transaction continues a period of expansion for Scale Computing. In 2025, edge networking firm Acumera acquired Scale and adopted the Scale Computing name for the combined organization. That earlier deal unified Acumera’s managed security and network operations services with Scale’s hyperconverged infrastructure and edge virtualization technology. Scale Computing Bill Morrow CEO was previously the CEO of Acumera.
The Adaptiv purchase builds on that integration by adding native SD-WAN and SASE functionality directly into the company’s managed services framework. Enterprises have increasingly sought to consolidate vendors. A single supplier that can deliver compute, storage, networking and security for branch locations offers less headaches than a mix of vendors.
Scale’s broader platform includes tools for remote infrastructure orchestration and zero-touch provisioning, allowing IT teams to deploy and manage equipment across distributed sites with minimal local intervention. The company also offers a hardware-agnostic edge platform designed to run applications and security controls at scale.
Additionally, changes in the virtualization market, based on higher VMware licensing costs, have prompted some channel partners and customers to evaluate alternatives, particularly in edge and hybrid cloud environments. Scale has positioned itself as a channel-focused provider, emphasizing simplicity and predictable pricing for distributed enterprises.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Adaptiv’s solutions will be available immediately through Scale’s partner ecosystem.
