Researchers have found a new strain of stealth malware that attacks computers and IoT devices in the Linux system. Just last week, AT&T Alien Labs unveiled Shikitega warning people about its high-level of stealth and sophistication. The malware deployed via a multi-stage infection chain is extremely hard to detect for a standard anti-virus with signature-based detection. In the infected system, Shikitega exploits the vulnerabilities to boost its privileges and delivers its payload little by little and in the final steps launches a cryptocurrency miner.
