The flurry of change is a true identity shift for a company long associated with flash storage and now entering the market for managing data across environments.
Founded in 2009 and known for its FlashArray and FlashBlade systems, Pure built a solid reputation on high-performance all-flash storage and non-disruptive upgrades under its Evergreen subscription model. But as AI workloads proliferate, executives argue that storage hardware alone no longer addresses the complex challenges facing enterprises.
CEO Charles Giancarlo has often described a strategy the company calls an enterprise data cloud architecture, a framework designed to unify data across on-premises systems, edge deployments and public clouds. Rather than focusing on individual arrays, the company is now emphasizing centralized oversight and automated data movement.
Governing Data
The acquisition of 1touch is intended to deepen that data capability. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in New York, 1touch builds software that scans corporate systems to locate and contextualize data. Its platform, Kontxtual, creates detailed inventories of datasets, flags sensitive records like financial data, and maps how data is used across departments.
By combining that contextual layer with Everpure’s storage platform, the company aims to offer customers a clearer understanding of what data they possess and how it can be governed. This level of visibility is essential as organizations move AI projects from experimentation into production.
AI systems depend not only on computing power but also on curated, well-understood data. Enterprises must track provenance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. According to Everpure, integrating 1touch’s discovery and classification tools will help automate those processes and reduce some of the headaches of data governance.
The acquisition of 1touch offers some market momentum. The company has disclosed rapid growth in bookings over the past year and counts several large enterprises among its customers. Its software integrates with a broad range of third-party security and compliance tools, enabling automated remediation of risks such as excessive user permissions or improperly stored sensitive files.
The rebranding will not affect the company’s stock ticker, which remains PSTG, though product names will be updated to align with the new corporate identity. The Pure Storage Platform, for example, will become the Everpure Platform.

The company’s move appears consistent with a wider trend. As AI initiatives scale, enterprises are reassessing how data flows through increasingly complex hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Vendors that once competed primarily on hardware specifications are repositioning themselves as software-driven platform providers.
Everpure’s strategy suggests that in the AI era, the value proposition lies less in storing bits and more in orchestrating and enriching them.
